About HANKO for foreigners

traditionally in Japan there is a custom to stamp a seal.
Foreigners living in Japan for long periods of time need to open bank accounts, apply for fees, and lot more.

There is a place to stamp a seal instead of writing your signature on such application forms.
Important documents such as applying for mortgage are required the official seal stamp.
It is required to register the seal at public office and may be attached to contact affixes with
an imprint certificate called seal stamp certificate.
Also, there are customs to stamp receipts for parcel deliveries, time cards, and for error corrections.

In addition. there are also "YUIN" stamp that can be used for fun. It can be used for souvenirs and gifts.

When foreigners order seals, usually there are ready made "HANKO’s converted to Kanji."
but in general it will be custom made.

You can choose from vertical and horizontal prints of katakana, hiragana,
and vertical Kanji conversion print but in some cases it may be printed horizontally.

You can also choose the calligraphic style of the letters. Please choose the number of characters.

Official Registered seal

The most formal HANKO is the official registered seal.It is required to register the seal at the city hall you are regided.This system is called ‘seal stamp certificate’
Each person can register only one seal.
A seal registration card will be issued when registration is completed.
A seal stamp certificate can be issued through the seal registration card if necessary.
Official seals are required when applying for a contract and is necessary to attach a seal stamp certificate.
In the process of printing the official seal,each municipal will need to verify the information recorded on your original alien registered card whether alphabetic characters,katakana,and kanji conversions of the first and middle name can be abbreviated.On top of that,unless the name is not in common kanji,generally alphabetical letters or katakana is used.
We recommend size 15,16.5,18 mm round.This relates to the number of characters.
In general,most are horizonally written: the first name in the upper row and on the second row with the last name is most common.However, depending on your country of origin you may converse your first and last name.If middle names are included, a third row will be added.
When there are many characters,we will flexibly respond to your request.

Registered bank seal

To open a bank account. you need to indicate the proof of your identity. Opening an account using a seal makes it possible to experience Japan. Account names are mostly in Katakana or alphabetical letters. In case of Katakana. it is necessary to be able to hand write it.

Full names. surnames alone. First names and middle names can be used.
A HANKO with your name including a Japanese design can also be used.

Informal seal・Private seal

IN Japan, there is a custom to use seals as identification in various situations.
When receiving parcel delivery, circulation notices and any daily life situations, seals are generally used as signatures. Replacing katakana,
the Roman alphabet, and foreign language pronunciations as close to Japanese pronunciation with Kanji conversed HANKO will make you get in a Japanese mood.
For a personal one, adding scenery and plants, nicknames also can be used.
